The inspiration behind this video:
One of the highlights of the most recent Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire trailer was the reveal of a yellow gauntlet worn by Kong as he charges into battle, and while many have assumed that it will act as armor, its true function could have been borrowed from a 28-year-old movie. The Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire trailer revealed a ton of new information about the movie, including a clear look at the movie's villain, Skar King, and the existence of a baby member of Kong's species. It also seemingly revealed upgrades for both of its titular Titans, including Godzilla's new pink atomic power and Kong's right arm gauntlet.
Given that Kong is wearing it as he and Godzilla charge towards an unseen threat, it's understandable to think the gauntlet would serve some sort of combat purpose, whether as armor or as a weapon. However, the simplicity of the gauntlet and its location on Kong's body could indicate a completely different use. In fact, its true purpose could be borrowed from a middling ape-related movie from the 1990s.
