In March 1945 US forces of the 3rd Armored Division advanced into the ruins of the German city of Cologne. Over two days of bitter fighting they eventually pushed the defenders back across the Rhine.

Standing in their way were the last few tanks of the German Army in the region. This is the story of how one M26 Pershing tank came up against a formidable Panther outside the iconic Cathedral, with the duel being caught on camera in one of the most iconic scenes of WW2.

When oil was discovered in Ghana in 2007, the country began to dream big. It dreamed that the ‘black gold’ would bring economic upswing and long-awaited prosperity to its nation. But what happens when dreams and globalization meet?

The global economy continues to rely on oil — but the so-called ‘black gold’ is becoming scarce. If a country has oil, so we tend to believe, it has all it needs to become a wealthy country. When oil was discovered in Ghana in 2007, Ghanaians also believed that economic prosperity would soon sweep over their country. By 2010, drilling had started. Ghana was determined to do better than Nigeria, a country that exports oil, but has to import gasoline.

This documentary, shot over a period of ten years, is a case study of globalization. Filmed in a coastal region where people lived off fishing and rubber cultivation for decades, it shows the impact the oil discovery has had on their lives. Would the promises come true? Would the ‘black gold’ bring modern life and progress, paved streets, electricity and jobs even to small villages? Filmmaker Elke Sasse and journalist Andrea Stäritz spent ten years documenting the developments on Ghana’s western coast. Nigerian animator Ebele Okoye adds her personal perspective through art, as a citizen of a nation hit by the oil curse.

The first tip that I have for you if you wanna increase your downloads, is promote your podcast on social media. When most people create a podcast and they release it, what they'll do is they'll go on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and say, "Hey everyone, I got a podcast, check me out." And yeah, you should do that, but what's more effective than that is every time you release a podcast episode, 'cause keep in mind, if you have a podcast, it's not just one episode, you're gonna constantly release new episodes every month. Every time you release a new episode, share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, and every other social channel out there. It's a great way to get more listens.

The second tip I have for you is the exit pop-up. So on your website, there's a lot of people that'll visit you from their mobile devices. More people these days are using Google from their mobile phones than they are from their desktop computer or laptop. So with your website, just for all those mobile visitors, do an exit pop-up like I have on neilpatel.com. I use a tool called hellobar.com to do this. Within 30 seconds of someone being on my website, you don't wanna do this right away 'cause it irritates people, wait 30 seconds. When someone comes to my website, they're on there for 30 seconds on a mobile device, I tell 'em, "Subscribe to Marketing School", which is my podcast. It's really simple, and then through Hello Bar, I can do it where if it's an iPhone device, they get sent to the iTunes store. And if it's an Android device, they get sent to any of the Android type of stores. I don't have an Android phone, so I'm not sure where I send them, but I do know I'm sending them to a version where they can download the podcast on their Android phone. It's simple and it's very effective.

The third strategy I have for you is include your podcast in your social media bios.

The fourth tip I have for you, let's say you're using libsyn. You wanna have a detailed description.

The fifth tip I have for you is send out a email blast about each of your podcast episodes.

The last tip I have for you is to interview some guests. There's always gonna be someone on the Web who's more popular. Even if you have one of the most popular podcasts, there's still people who are more popular than you, and that's a great thing. Go take those guests, and invite them to be on your show. Whether you have a popular podcast or a new podcast, so many people are open to having guests. People email me all the time saying, "Neil, I'm launching a new podcast, do you mind being on my show?" And in most cases, I'll say yes, as long as I have the time.

Sameer has led various peace interventions with more than 1,000 young people from different marginalized communities in Pakistan. He has also produced multiple documentaries, social campaigns, and visual content depicting social cohesion. His work has been supported by international and national organizations, including the United Nations, the European Union, and the Pakistani government.

Sameer is passionate about creating peace on a people-to-people level. He believes that the best way to address conflict is through dialogue and understanding. He is committed to changing the narrative of hate and religious discrimination through community peace building initiative.
