Here's why we made this one: Atlanta’s future is taking shape after the World Cup put us back on the world's stage for the first time since the '96 Olympics. 30 years later, we're asking the same question all over again: what happens after the crowds go home?

Tourists are always welcome, but they eventually leave. We stay. And what looked like the city building for THEM turns out to be the city building for US.

In this episode, we break down five projects already underway that will reshape how Atlanta for decades to come, and how different this city will look on the other side.

Here's where we're headed:

0:00 ⚡ Intro — 30 Years After the Olympics, Atlanta Builds Again
1:59 🏗️ Centennial Yards | Atlanta’s $5 Billion Downtown Bet
7:15 🏙️ South Downtown | Rebuilding Without Erasing the Past
10:43 🌳 The Stitch | Can Atlanta Reconnect Downtown?
13:27 🏢 Civic Center | Housing, History and a $1 Billion Rebuild
15:28 🌿 Atlanta Botanical Garden | A New BeltLine Entrance
17:30 🐦‍🔥 Closing | Phoenixes Rising Everywhere

Some of these Atlanta projects are already taking shape. Others remain years away. And all of them still have to prove that the finished reality can live up to the renderings.

Together, they represent billions of dollars in Atlanta real estate development and an enormous bet on what Downtown and Midtown can become.

Which Atlanta development project are you most excited about? Which one are you most skeptical of? And what major project should we explore next? Tell us in the comments.

If Atlanta’s changing neighborhoods have you thinking about where you might want to live, buy, sell or invest, that’s the whole reason we do this.

"Ruby Tuesday" by The Rolling Stones
Composers: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards

Lyrics:
She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don’t matter if it’s gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still, I’m gonna miss you

Don’t question why she needs to be so free
She’ll tell you it’s the only way to be
She just can’t be chained
To a life where nothing’s gained
And nothing’s lost
At such a cost

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still, I’m gonna miss you

“There’s no time to lose,” I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams and
you will lose your mind
Ain’t life unkind?

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still, I’m gonna miss you

Sky News host James Morrow has reacted to “little local legends” in Uganda reenacting Donald Trump’s attempted assassination.

The video shows the young kids recreating the moment Donald Trump was shot at and covered by the Secret Service.

Mr Morrow said the kids did a “brilliant job”.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi became one of the latest top Democrats to support Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential bid, a day after President Biden dropped his campaign and endorsed Harris. The vice president praised Mr. Biden's leadership and was greeted with cheers at what is now her campaign headquarters in Delaware.

Among the challenges facing Vice President Kamala Harris as she begins her presidential campaign: choosing a running mate and creating a narrative that frames the issues that helped define her rise in politics and her vice presidency, including abortion and immigration.

The Trump campaign has begun to change its focus after running for more than 600 days against President Biden. Former President Trump intensified his attacks on Harris over the weekend, and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, did so today.

Voters in the battleground state of Pennsylvania are contemplating the departure of President Biden from the campaign and the emergence of Vice President Kamala Harris.

NBC News' Kelly O'Donnell, Hallie Jackson, Laura Jarrett, Garrett Haake and Zinhle Essamuah report.

#KamalaHarris #Trump #2024Election

Donald Trump has so far watched from the sidelines as Vice President Kamala Harris galvanized and re-energized Democrats by stepping in as their likely presidential nominee. On Wednesday, Trump gets back in the game.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, will hold his first campaign rally since Harris emerged as his near-certain Democratic foe in the 2024 election. The former president will appear at an event in Charlotte, North Carolina, a state that will be an important battleground in the Nov. 5 election.

March 8 marks International Women's Day around the world, seeking to end gender discrimination, violence and abuse. We start the show by looking at the day's roots in socialism, and what it means for the movement for reproductive justice in the United States. Our guest is Nancy Krieger, renowned professor of social epidemiology at Harvard University's School of Public Health and director of the Interdisciplinary Concentration on Women, Gender, and Health. She's also co-founder and chair of the Spirit of 1848 Caucus in the American Public Health Association, which links social justice and public health. International Women's Day has always been a struggle for "the conditions in which people can thrive," says Krieger.

This webinar will explore the intersections of feminist and anti-racist activism in the Middle East and North Africa. Professor Nadje Al-Ali will be in conversation with Maie Panaga, Menna Agha, Nabila Moussaoui, and Khawla Ksiki - four prominent feminist activists and researchers who are engaged in anti-racist campaigns and politics. We will be exploring the question of racism within the Middle East and North Africa and the way feminist movements in the region have historically often been complicit in maintaining and reproducing racism. What if anything has changed recently? How do younger generations of feminist and queer activists approach racism? How has feminism changed in the region? Has the global Black Lives Matter movement had an impact on anti-racist struggles in the Middle East and North Africa?

This webinar is part of a series of events focusing on gender and feminist issues on the one hand, as well as a series of events around anti-Black racism in the Middle East and its diasporas.
