NBC News has released a snippet of an exclusive interview with US President Joe Biden after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

NBC News questioned the President about his rhetoric about the Republican nominee.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has responded to the scenes from Donald Trump’s rally where the former US president was assisted off stage by the Secret Service.

Reports indicate there was a shooting at the rally where Mr Trump was set to talk.

“These are extraordinary scenes, and I hope that former president Trump is ok,” Mr Chalmers told Sky News Australia.

“We hope that he’s ok.”

Two people have reportedly died after gunshots were fired at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania - with the injured former president rushed off stage by armed security.

Butler County District attorney told the Associated Press (AP) that a gunman was dead and that a rally attendee had also been killed. One person is also reportedly in critical condition.

Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy says JD Vance will “mop the floor” in a debate against US Vice President Kamala Harris.

“But we’ll see if it’s Kamala Harris or not,” Mr Ramaswamy told Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen.

Donald Trump – just days after surviving a shocking assassination attempt on his life – has triumphantly greeted the audience at the Republican National Convention as he fist pumped while the excited crowd chanted “USA, USA”.

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott says JD Vance is a “very smart guy”.

Mr Abbott told Sky News host Peta Credlin that JD Vance is a “genuine representative” of the working class.

“He hasn’t forgotten the communities that shaped him.”

Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger says US President Joe Biden is an “embarrassment on the world stage” following multiple blunders.

“Biden looks so feeble. He looks like yesterday’s man,” he told Sky News Australia.

“He does look as if he’s got early stage of dementia, he makes that many blunders, he’s an embarrassment on the world stage.”

Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer says Donald Trump is “looking good” for the 2024 US presidential election.

Former US president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at his rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

“He is looking good. Donald Trump is obviously looking good [for the 2024 presidential election],” Mr Hammer told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.

“You’ve now seen some op-eds.”

Former Australian ambassador to the US Joe Hockey says there is “no doubt” the next four years will be the equivalent of a “long episode of The Apprentice”.

Donald Trump has announced Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

“There’s no doubt that the next four years are going to be the equivalent of a long episode of The Apprentice, so JD Vance is going to have to earn his stripes,” Mr Hockey told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

Body Language EXPERT Reacts To Donald Trump Assassination Attempt

US commentator Kinsey Schofield says she has just witnessed an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, and blasts CNN for only calling it "an incident".

Accusing numerous left-wing figures of encouraging violent discourse in the United States, Kinsey questioned where their moral compass is as a country.

Gunfire erupted at a Donald Trump rally on Saturday, sparking panic in the crowd and spattering the Republican presidential candidate with blood, before he emerged and defiantly pumped his fist in the air before being ushered to a waiting car.

Trump grimaced and grabbed his ear before security hustled him away. The Secret Service and the former president's campaign said Trump was safe following the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, about 30 miles (50 km) north of Pittsburgh.

Live video showed blood spattered on Trump's right cheek and ear.

The suspected shooter was dead, as was an audience member, and another person was in critical condition, a Washington Post reporter said on social media, citing the Butler County district attorney.

The shooting occurred less than four months before the Nov. 5 election, when Trump faces an election rematch with Democratic President Joe Biden.
