📌 Donald #Trump ha ricevuto alla Casa Bianca il presidente del #Sudafrica, Cyril #Ramaphosa. Dopo qualche minuto cordiale, la situazione è però cambiata rapidamente. Nello Studio Ovale il presidente statunitense ha attaccato l'omologo in riferimento alle presunte persecuzioni ai danni della minoranza bianca e all'accoglienza data dagli Usa ad alcuni gruppi di afrikans ai quali è stato garantito lo status di rifugiati. Ramaphosa si è improvvisamente ritrovato, come accadde a #Zelensky, a rispondere alle accuse - in questo caso di genocidio - cercando però di non cadere in trappola e cercando di distendere i toni.

Di fronte ai continui attacchi di Trump, la tensione è continuata a salire, fino a quando lo stesso Ramaphosa ha detto: "Mi dispiace che non ho un aereo da regalarle", con un evidente riferimento alla vicenda del Boeing che sarebbe stato regalato a Trump dal Qatar. Il presidente sudafricano ha comunque concluso con toni concilianti: "Siete un partner del Sudafrica, sta sollevando preoccupazioni, e di questo siamo disposti a parlare".

Was als Machtdemonstration geplant war, endete in einer politischen Blamage: Beim Besuch des südafrikanischen Präsidenten Cyril Ramaphosa im Weißen Haus versuchte Donald Trump, seinem Gast mit gezielten Provokationen einen „weißen Genozid“ in Südafrika vorzuwerfen – ein Narrativ, das seit Jahren von rechten Verschwörungstheoretikern und Akteuren wie Elon Musk verbreitet wird.

Trump empfing Ramaphosa ungewöhnlich lange – über 70 Minuten dauerte das Gespräch im Oval Office. Dabei präsentierte der Ex-Präsident stapelweise Berichte über angebliche Morde an weißen Farmern, zeigte verstörende Videos und dimmte sogar das Licht, um die Inszenierung zu verstärken. Doch der südafrikanische Staatschef ließ sich nicht aus der Ruhe bringen. Höflich, diplomatisch und humorvoll begegnete er dem Versuch der Vorführung mit einem schlagfertigen Kommentar: Als Trump ihm spöttisch ein Flugzeug verweigerte, entgegnete Ramaphosa lachend, er nehme auch gerne die Air Force One.

Trump wollte mit dem Treffen offenbar mediale Wirkung erzeugen, gestützt auf eine rechte Narrative über einen „weißen Genozid“ in Südafrika – eine These, die unter Experten als widerlegte Verschwörungstheorie gilt. Dennoch betonte Trump, er wolle mehr „weiße Flüchtlinge“ aus Südafrika aufnehmen. Ramaphosa konterte souverän, brachte weiße südafrikanische Unterstützer mit und entlarvte Trumps Inszenierung als durchsichtiges politisches Manöver.

US-Korrespondent Michael Wüllenweber kommentierte das Treffen treffend: „Aus dem für Ramaphosa gelegten Hinterhalt ging der Südafrikaner als klarer Gewinner hervor.“

Donald Trump is hosting Cyril Ramaphosa, the South African president, at the White House in a bid to reset relations between the two countries after months of tensions.

The meeting comes after Mr Trump accused Pretoria of carrying out a “genocide” against white Afrikaner farmers, allegations South Africa has vehemently denied.

Earlier this month the Trump administration welcomed 59 white South Africans as refugees who have claimed they have been discriminated against because of their race.

Mr Ramaphosa has said those arriving in the US are “cowards” and “do not fit the bill” for refugees.
