Henry Thacker ("Harry") Burleigh (December 2, 1866 – September 12, 1949) was an American classical composer, arranger, and professional singer known for his baritone voice. The first black composer who was instrumental in developing characteristically American music, Burleigh made black music available to classically trained artists both by introducing them to spirituals and by arranging spirituals in a more classical form.
Burleigh also introduced Antonín Dvořák to Black American music, which influenced some of Dvořák's most famous compositions and led him to say that Black music would be the basis of an American classical music.

This is the live version of "Something Inside So Strong" ft Annatoria & Ché Kirah. Originally released on TBN as a powerful tribute to songs that have marked monumental moments in black history, music and culture; singer/songwriter, Junior Garr and choir conductor, Marsha B. Morrison, navigated The Spirituals Choir in a time of great uncertainty to give a message of hope.

“This is a collection of negro spirituals and songs that have inspired and championed the story of black people. With all that is happening in the world today there has never been a better time for the power of music to bring us together. This is a commemoration of not only our breakthrough and achievements but also an acknowledgement of the continuous pain and sorrow experienced by Black people today. We must find a way to foster and fight for the justice and equality of Black individuals everywhere. Justice and the good news go hand in hand.” - @JuniorGarr

Lyrics:

The higher you build your barriers, the taller I become,
The further you take my rights away, the faster I will run,
You can deny me, you can decide to turn your face away,

Something inside so strong,
I know that I can make it, though you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone, oh no,
Something inside so strong, oh oh oh,
Something inside so strong

The more you refuse to hear my voice
The louder I will sing (I will sing louder)
You hide behind walls of Jericho (wey oh)
Your lies will come tumbling
Deny my place in time, you squander wealth that's mine
My light will shine, so brightly it will blind you

Something inside so strong (something inside),
I know that I can make it, though you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone, oh no,
Something inside so strong, oh oh oh,
Something inside so strong

They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger,
A warrior, more than a survivor, you can thrive,
Transformed by adversity you face,
Every challenge on your way, strand strong, you can overcome
They try to beat us down but we rise above the struggle
Never giving up under pressure we don't struggle
Instead we discover gold inside, as we realise, no matter what,
you'll never dull our shine

Deny my place in time, you squander wealth that's mine
My light will shine, so brightly it will blind you

Something inside so strong (I know that I),
I know that I can make it (Though you're doing me wrong)
Though you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone, oh no,
Something inside so strong, oh oh oh,
Something inside so strong
Something inside so strong, oh oh oh,
Something inside so strong
Something inside so strong, oh oh oh,
Something inside so strong

Oh, Oh, Oh
