In El Salvador, Gabriel Urrutia searches for his wife and stepdaughter, who were jailed in the country’s repressive crackdown on gangs that has resulted in nearly 70,000 arrests since March 2022.
The government suspended the constitutional right to legal defence and made it possible to imprison people indefinitely before trial. Like Gabriel’s family members, many others have disappeared into the country's dangerous and overcrowded prisons. Human rights groups have documented many in-custody deaths since the start of the state of emergency.
Despite El Salvador’s new repressive reality, the policy is extremely popular and has helped President Nayib Bukele consolidate his hold on power.
Fault Lines travels to El Salvador to report on the war on gangs and investigate claims of abuse and deaths in prison.

We are on the trail of an enigma: Do chimpanzees really pass on their knowledge and skills to other group members and offspring? Recent research has supported this theory, meaning that man and ape are more similar than we have previously thought. We journey into the forests of Uganda while accompanying primatologists that guide us through their behavioral research on great apes. We observe the creative ways chimpanzees use their tools, along with their understanding of communication skills while foraging and hunting. The researchers use spectacular field experiments to answer the question: Can a previously foreign cultural feature be implemented into a group of chimpanzees? Together with Jane Goodall, whose research and findings on chimpanzees triggered a scientific breakthrough in the 1960s, we set out to find the extent of similarities between man and ape. Using captivating film footage of chimpanzees living in the wild that come nearly face to face with researchers, we show what science has not yet been able to explain.

Ever wondered if there's someone out there who looks exactly like you? Well, statistically, it is estimated that for every face there are 7 doppelganger matches around the world.
In this documentary, we follow people as they track down their twin stranger across the globe and meet for the first time. They get to know one another and find out about each other's lives and whether there are any other similarities. While the pairs get to know each other, they are also undergoing a series of tests by the twin-experts at St Thomas' Hospital. These include measuring similarities of facial features using the latest 3D scanning technology, 2D facial recognition analysis and DNA ancestry testing.
The experts then get 100 people to rate the similarities from photos from most alike to least alike. Taking all of the results into consideration, the twin-experts will then reveal which pair is the most identical.

Despite separating from Somalia over 20 years ago, the state of Somaliland is still unrecognised by the rest of the world. Life here is hard. The popular series Dicing with Death brings us an eye-opening look at life in a country that isn’t officially a country.
Due to lack of infrastructure and leftover mines from the civil war delivery drivers in Somaliland take their lives in their hands each time they cross the desert. Before the lorries, transporting goods was done by camel, nowadays Somaliland is one of the main exporters of camels to the rest of the middle east; it is said here that both eating their meat and drinking their milk will make you virile. Somaliland is one of the biggest consumers of the plant khat which when chewed gives a cocaine-like high. The plant quickly loses its potency and so the delivery drivers must race to get their product to the distributors, rather than stopping they just throw the bundles off the side of the moving trucks; with clamouring customers waiting eagerly for each drop off.
But life may be about to change here as supposedly there is a lot of oil under the ground, an as yet untapped resource which may one day bring Somaliland the wealth and recognition it craves.

Baby animals beguile with their innocent charm. But while some remain harmless, others have a deep-rooted instinct. It may take weeks or months of training to hone their skills, but in every corner of the globe predators emerge. Their landscapes and lifestyles maybe very different, but these babies are born to hunt.
Predators come in all shapes and sizes, from tiny but hardy Arctic foxes to snowy owls, speedy cheetahs, agile pumas and mighty polar bears. They will all face their own unique set of challenges before they earn their titles as top predators.
Fox cubs must learn to hunt, but their Arctic home is teaming with bird-life during the summer and geese and gulls often end up on the menu. For a while the cubs have it easy, but the summer is short-lived this far north and before long they will need to leave their mothers and face the harsh reality of winter alone - with a ticking clock they must learn to hunt. But while foxes rely on cunning, cheetah cubs must get the hang of running fast; they are destined to become the fastest runners on earth and will use their skills to chase down nimble gazelles. In fact by working together, young cheetahs are able to go after larger prey - joining forces to outsmart an aggressive ostrich or even to take down a large wildebeest.
No matter whether they are born to the forest or plains or even the frigid tundra, every landscape has its predators, and though it may not be easy at first, with a little help from their mothers all are born to hunt.

The Second World War began with the invasion of Poland and Hitler seemed unstoppable.
On the first of September 1939, Germany invaded Poland, triggering the Second World War. Hitler's air force kills thousands of innocent civilians. Within two weeks of the historic start of the Second World War, Warsaw is surrounded.
American photographer and cameraman Julien Brien has visited Warsaw. He witnesses the death and suffering in the beleaguered city, now a victim of the Second World War. In a broadcast on Polish radio, he directly addresses the American president to help.
Hitler assumes that the United States will not help Poland during the Second World War. Neither will Great Britain or France. The Second World War is the war Hitler always wanted. Britain and France declare war on Germany, but remain inactive. The last chance to put Hitler in his place was missed.

The Kalaidzhi bride market takes place in the southeast of Bulgaria every year. Unmarried women are often paired off with financially strong men.
But more and more young Roma are rebelling against the old tradition. For young Kalaidzhi the annual bride market at Bachkovo Monastery is the only chance to find a partner. Their Orthodox Christian faith and traditional code of conduct prohibit them from dating, flirting or having any other pre-marital relations. The Kalaidzhi - a name meaning tinsmiths or boilermakers - marry only within the group. Finding a spouse from outside - and in particular a non-Roma Bulgarian - is out of the question. Love is only a secondary consideration. What matters is the dowry. A growing number of young Roma, however, are rebelling against the traditional marriage market. They want to make their own decisions, and to love and marry the person of their choice. For girls especially - some as young as 15 when they are put up for marriage - the wedding is the end of self-determined life. They will subsequently be housewives and mothers. The film accompanies 17-year-old Teni and 19-year-old Maria in the week before the market day. For them it means buying a lot of new clothes and masses of other preparations. Can this be a way to find true love? And how is the outdated ritual affected by the Internet and social media?
