Director, Mel Brooks, actresses, Cloris Leachman, Teri Garr and others celebrate the movie, "Young Frankenstein" in this 2002 documentary: It's Alive; Creating A Monster Classic.
#melbrooksyoungfrankenstein #youngfrankensteinbloopers #melbrooksinterview #genewilder
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is a 1974 American comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks. The screenplay was co-written by Brooks and Gene Wilder. Wilder also starred in the lead role as the title character, a descendant of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and Peter Boyle as the monster. The film co-stars Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Kenneth Mars, Richard Haydn, and Gene Hackman. The film is a parody of the classic horror film genre, in particular the various film adaptations of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus produced by Universal Pictures in the 1930s. Much of the lab equipment used as props was created by Kenneth Strickfaden for the 1931 film Frankenstein. To help evoke the atmosphere of the earlier films, Brooks shot the picture entirely in black and white, a rarity in the 1970s, and employed 1930s' style opening credits and scene transitions such as iris outs, wipes, and fades to black. The film also features a period score by Brooks' longtime composer John Morris.
A critical favorite and box-office smash, Young Frankenstein ranks No. 28 on Total Film magazine's readers' "List of the 50 Greatest Comedy Films of All Time", No. 56 on Bravo's list of the "100 Funniest Movies", and No. 13 on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 funniest American movies. In 2003, it was deemed "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" by the United States National Film Preservation Board, and selected for preservation in the Library of Congress National Film Registry. It was later adapted by Brooks and Thomas Meehan as a stage musical. The film received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Sound and Best Adapted Screenplay, the latter of which was a nomination shared with Wilder and Brooks. On its 40th anniversary, Brooks considered it by far his finest (although not his funniest) film as a writer-director. (wikipedia)

MEL BROOKS (b. 1926) is an American actor, comedian, film producer, director and screenwriter. With a career spanning over 7 decades he is known as a creator of broad farces and parodies widely considered to be among the best film comedies ever made.[2] Brooks began his career as a comic and a writer for Sid Caesar's variety show Your Show of Shows (1950–1954) alongside Woody Allen, Neil Simon and Larry Gelbart. Together with Carl Reiner, he created the comic character The 2000 Year Old Man. He wrote, with Buck Henry, the hit television comedy series Get Smart, which ran from 1965 to 1970. In middle age, Brooks became one of the most successful film directors of the 1970s, with many of his films being among the top 10 moneymakers of the year they were released. His best-known films include The Producers (1967), The Twelve Chairs (1970), Blazing Saddles (1974), Young Frankenstein (1974), Silent Movie (1976), High Anxiety (1977), History of the World, Part I (1981), Spaceballs (1987), and Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993). A musical adaptation of his first film, The Producers, ran on Broadway from 2001 to 2007 and was remade into a musical film in 2005. (wikipedia)

The land of Britain was once considered a myth by the mighty Roman Empire.
To them, it was nothing more than an old legend.
This would change in the year 55 BC, when Julius Caesar set his sights on this fabled island and sailed towards its shores.
The historical discovery would end in defeat.
Almost a century later, the Romans found glory when Roman Emperor Claudius stepped foot on British soil.
Here they conquered magnificent castles and cities, and left their mark on the land.
They set their eyes on Stonehenge, using the sacred site for their worship and rituals.
Londinium was established, and the Romans seized control of the land.
But what happened next in the history of the United Kingdom? To understand the story of this fascinating land, we must start from the very beginning…
The United Kingdom has played a huge role in developing democracy, literature, and science all around the world. In the 19th century, at the peak of its growth, the British Empire was spread over a quarter of the globe. In fact, It was once said that the sun never sets on the British Empire, which is a testament to how much influence the country had on the world.
We will take a look right back to the birth of the country, which was to become one of the most powerful and widespread civilizations on the planet.

Ku Klux Klan - An American History: Part 1 | American History Documentary
Watch 'Ku Klux Klan - An American History: Part 2' here: https://youtu.be/Lfqq2iu2pFo
The Ku Klux Klan is the oldest terrorist group in the United States. This secret society, created
in 1865, has survived throughout the decades and has always managed to rise from its ashes.
It has been making the news for over 150 years. 150 years of hatred, racism and horror. A
cruel history whose demons still haunt America.
Part 1:
In 1865, a handful of Southern Civil War veterans founded a secret society: the Ku
Klux Klan. Very quickly, the Klan instituted a reign of terror among the recently freed black
population. Murders and lynchings were common. In Washington, Congress launched an
offensive against the invisible empire, which was officially destroyed in 1872. The Ku Klux
Klan was reborn in 1915 thanks to the film The Birth of a Nation by D. W. Griffith. Under new
leadership, it evolved to fit into an America undergoing major changes and broadened its
trade in hatred. The KKK became anti-immigrant, anti-urban, anti-communist, anti-Semitic,
and anti-Catholic. Nearly four million Americans joined what would become a highly
influential mass lobbying organization. But at the end of the 1920s, scandals and the
economic crisis weakened the movement, which eventually disappeared again after the
Second World War.

For many critics, the arch-conservative Catholic community Opus Dei is a diabolical sect. However, Opus Dei (which translates to "Work of God”) sees itself in a very positive light. Even today, it’s very difficult to look into the inner world of the sect.
That's because its 90,000 members worldwide have taken a vow of secrecy - and those who have left report persecution if they break that vow. Meanwhile, Opus Dei is working to become the most influential player in the Catholic Church. To this end, it maintains a secret network - including branches in Germany.
It is no coincidence that the German headquarters are located in Cologne - Germany‘s most powerful Catholic archdiocese. In Germany, Opus Dei is focused on trying to gain a foothold in the field of education, by running daycare centers and schools.
The examination of a daycare center in Munich shows that Opus Dei deliberately conceals its involvement in these institutions. Another component of the network is IESE, the business school of Opus Dei, which also has an offshoot in Germany. It is considered one of the best schools of its kind in the world.
In Spain, where Opus Dei originated, sect members are active in parts of the judicial and educational sectors. The documentary tries to uncover these connections in both Spain and Germany, and lets both victims and experts have their say. It also includes an interview with the head of Opus Dei, Christoph Bockamp.
For the first time, a former member from Germany reports on her ordeal in Opus Dei and the harassment she experienced after she broke away from the sect. Spaniard Carmen Charo developed mental health problems during her time in Opus Dei, due to brainwashing and psychological pressure. Today, she helps others in their journey out of Opus Dei.
Dietmar Scharmitzer is trying to do the same thing with German-speaking people who want to leave, and runs an Internet platform to help inform them. Finally, Marco Politi, an author and Vatican expert from Rome, takes stock of the influence Opus Dei has exerted since the time of Pope John Paul II.

In the summer of 1945, the nightmare is ending for thousands of soldiers. In Japan, the situation is desperate. The Empire of the Rising Sun no longer has the means to continue the war. It can't stem the American advance. Its centres of industry have been systematically destroyed by the US Air Force's bombardments, its supply lines all cut off.
The people of Japan are preparing to face the unthinkable; and in the corridors of power, too, many of their leaders are resigned to the war being lost. But the ministers cannot accept the shame and the risks of an unnegotiated surrender.
They must maintain the Emperor on his throne, to preserve the very essence of Japan and the military traditions it represents.

During the Stone Age, humans shifted from the nomadic lifestyle to the more settled life of farmers. A documentary on an important period of human history. Watch Part 2 here: https://youtu.be/XSGRd5Ve1zI
Around 12,000 years ago, humans underwent a transition from nomads to settlers. That epoch, the Stone Age, produced monumental building works. Part 1 of this two-part documentary illuminates the cultural background of these structures and shows the difficulties Stone Age humans had to contend with. Until around 10,000 BC, humans lived as hunters and gatherers. Then an irreversible change began. Settlements formed. "For millions of years humans lived as foragers and suddenly their lives changed radically. This was far more radical than the start of the digital age or industrialization," says prehistorian Hermann Parzinger, president of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. For a long time, scholars believed that a sedentary lifestyle was a prerequisite for constructing large buildings. Then archaeologist Klaus Schmidt discovered Göbekli Tepe in southern Turkey, a 12,000-year-old complex of stone blocks weighing up to 20 tons. Its builders were still hunter- gatherers. They decorated the stone columns with ornate animal reliefs. How these structures were used and who was allowed access to them remains a mystery. But we now know that the site was abandoned and covered over once settlements took root. Human development continued its course. The discovery of agriculture and animal husbandry led to larger settlements, a changed diet and ultimately to dependence on material goods. This social upheaval in the late Neolithic period has influenced our lives up to the present day. But experts agree that the monuments of the Stone Age prove that humans have gigantomanic tendencies and a need to immortalize themselves.

Speed. Meth. Glass. On the street, methamphetamine has many names. What started as a fad among West Coast motorcycle gangs in the 1970s then spread across the United States. In “The Meth Epidemic”, FRONTLINE, in association with The Oregonian, investigates meth addiction in America: the impact on individuals, families and communities, and the difficulty of controlling an essential ingredient in meth—ephedrine and pseudoephedrine—sold legally in over-the-counter cold remedies.

Are Wall Street executives “too big to jail”? In the 2013 documentary, “The Untouchables,” producer and correspondent Martin Smith (“Money, Power, and Wall Street”) investigates why the U.S. Department of Justice failed to act on credible evidence that Wall Street knowingly packaged and sold toxic mortgage loans to investors, loans that brought the U.S. and world economies to the brink of collapse. Through interviews with top prosecutors, government officials and industry whistleblowers, FRONTLINE reports allegations that Wall Street bankers ignored pervasive fraud when buying pools of mortgage loans.
