Donald Trump has so far watched from the sidelines as Vice President Kamala Harris galvanized and re-energized Democrats by stepping in as their likely presidential nominee. On Wednesday, Trump gets back in the game.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, will hold his first campaign rally since Harris emerged as his near-certain Democratic foe in the 2024 election. The former president will appear at an event in Charlotte, North Carolina, a state that will be an important battleground in the Nov. 5 election.

Stereoscopic photography rapidly became a worldwide craze after the Great Exhibition of 1851. Cheap viewers and mass-produced stereographs brought startlingly vivid images within reach of a mass audience, making this the form in which most people first encountered photography a fact largely ignored in conventional photographic history.

Like the commercial suppliers of Magic Lantern slides, stereograph publishers offered systematic coverage of many subjects, even claiming that to visit remote countries by stereo was better than risking the journey.

As part of the celebration of Ms. magazine's 40th anniversary, Gloria Steinem delivered a lecture in the Vassar Chapel on September 19, 2012. “Once you’re married, that’s just the end of your football career”. That really hit home for me, as I was chatting to Amy.

Amy’s football journey began when she was 7 years old. She developed her skills playing with boys in the neighbourhood where she grew up in Kenya.

Now she’s the captain of South Sudan’s national women’s team, and the Ambassador of Women’s Football for South Sudan’s Football Association.

In her Ambassador role, she told me she wanted to “inspire girls who have dreams they want to achieve”.

But some communities don’t allow women to play football, “because they believe that women should still be in the house, doing chores, taking care of the family”. So #womeninsport takes on a different meaning…
