South Africa could become a "failed state”, a senior official of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) has said.

The admission by ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula comes as South Africa experiences power cuts, known as load-shedding, of up to 10 hours a day.

The country is also battling high levels of corruption, all of which has damaged confidence in the ANC government.

India has termed an 'outright lie', claims by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey that Delhi had threated to shut it down in India unless it complied with its orders. Speaking to a Youtube channel, Dorsey said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government wanted accounts criticial of the government's handling of the Farmers' Protests in 2021 restricted.
Dorsey who left as CEO in 2021 was speaking to the Breaking Points channel on Youtube, when he said "India for example, India is a country that had many requests of us around the farmers' protests, around particular journalists that were critical of the government. And it manifested in ways such as, we will shut Twitter down in India - which is a very large market for us - we will raid the homes of your employees - which they did - we will shut down your offices if you don't follow suit. And this is India, a democratic country. "

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is visiting Rome, where he is meeting political leaders ahead of an audience with Pope Francis.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Washington DC to try to rescue an imperilled US defence package to Kyiv worth billions of dollars.

The aid has become embroiled in US domestic, partisan politics, with Republicans demanding concessions on border funding in exchange.
